Xiaomi Releases ESG Report 2024: Sustainable Technology Innovation for the Future

Xiaomi has released its 2024 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report, highlighting its achievements in technological innovation, environmental sustainability, and recycling systems.With R&D investments reaching RMB 24.1 billion, Xiaomi continues to strengthen its commitment to technological inclusivity through the "Human x Car x Home" ecosystem, which offers a smarter and more sustainable lifestyle for consumers.

In the field of accessibility, Xiaomi has developed features like TalkBack equipped with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in HyperOS, allowing visually impaired users to enjoy real-time narration of text in images.Additionally, Xiaomi HyperOS 2 now features AI subtitle functionality with an accuracy rate of up to 93%, supporting users with hearing impairments.

In climate change mitigation, Xiaomi sets GHG emission reduction targets for its suppliers and accelerates the use of renewable energy with a target of 100% green electricity throughout the smartphone supply chain by 2050.Xiaomi also reduced carbon emissions by 3,378 tons in 2024 through the optimization of sea and rail transportation as alternative shipping methods.

Xiaomi's recycling program has successfully recycled 95.94% of its target of 38,000 tons of electronic waste between 2022 and 2026.More than 1.3 million used devices have been recycled through the trade-in program in various countries, and the company continues to develop the use of bio-based materials in its product designs, such as the Xiaomi 14T with eco-friendly materials from lemon residues.
