PGL Releases the Schedule for the DOTA 2 Tournament Through 2028, Holding 13 Events with a US$13 Million Prize Pool

PGL demonstrates a long-term commitment to the competitive DOTA 2 esports scene by announcing a roadmap to host 13 tournaments until 2028.This move further strengthens PGL's position as one of the largest DOTA 2 tournament organizers in the world, in addition to being the production company behind Valve's most prestigious tournament, The International.

As part of that commitment, PGL confirmed 13 PGL Wallachia tournaments with a definite schedule, as well as a total prize pool of 1 Million USD for each tournament. The plan provides clarity for DOTA 2 esports teams in organizing their competition schedules, while also helping other organizers avoid scheduling conflicts with important tournaments. The total prize pool to be contested in this series of tournaments amounts to 13 million USD.

The interesting thing about PGL is that they announced a schedule change for PGL Wallachia Season 5, which was originally scheduled for November 15-23, 2025, to June 18-29, 2025. This change was made to accommodate the addition of the PGL Wallachia Season 6 tournament, which will take place on November 4-16, 2025.

In the following year, PGL has planned three tournaments in 2026 with dates from March 3-16, April 14-26, and November 3-15, 2026.Meanwhile, in 2027 and 2028, PGL will hold four tournaments each year with a similar schedule.

PGL's aggressive move to hold DOTA 2 tournaments every year is met with enthusiasm by esports fans, although a controversial decision regarding chat rules in the PGL tournament will also be implemented in the near future.

PGL's long-term commitment is expected to serve as an example for other major DOTA 2 tournament organizers, such as ESL, FISSURE, BLAST, and EWC Foundation, to contribute to creating a DOTA 2 esports ecosystem in this decade.
